Isle of Man Town and Village Regeneration Scheme
Welcome to the Isle of Man Town and Village Regeneration Scheme page.
In February 2009, Tynwald voted unanimously to approve the Town and Village Centre Regeneration Scheme 2009, with £8 million of initial funding being made available from 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2012.
The aim of the Scheme is to benefit local communities across the whole of the Island by providing grant assistance for regeneration projects supported by investment from business, Local Authorities and private individuals.
The Regeneration Steering Group, chaired by the Chief Minister Tony Brown MHK and comprising the Treasury Minister Allan Bell MHK and Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney MHK, will oversee the Scheme. Local Regeneration Committees are responsible for proposing the designation of regeneration areas, agreeing a vision for their regeneration and considering applications from their areas.
The Chief Minister explained:
‘The introduction of the Regeneration Scheme is an important initiative by Government to help revitalise key centres in a way that enhances their distinctive and unique identities.’

Regeneration Seminar
A Regeneration Seminar is to be held on Friday, March 26, 2010. The Seminar has been arranged by the Chief Minister’s Regeneration Steering Group to support the work of the Local Regeneration Committees.
The Chief Minister’s Steering Group has worked with local authorities and local businesses to develop Local Regeneration Committees in Douglas, Ramsey, Castletown, Peel, the South West and Laxey. The Local Regeneration Committees are chaired by a Tynwald Member and comprise local Members of Tynwald, two members from the relevant local authority and two representatives from the retail/business community.
The Local Regeneration Committees are working to develop a regeneration vision and proposals for their areas.
