The meetings will be conducted in the Ground Floor Committee Room, Murray House, Mount Havelock, Douglas, Isle of Man.
Whilst levels of delegated authority will allow most applications to be determined by the Director, more contentious matters will be considered by the Committee in its public forum.
The levels of delegation and the Standing Orders under which the Committee and the Officers of the Department operate are available to download at the bottom of our publications page.
Members of the public must note that, whilst they are welcome to attend the meetings, it is to listen and witness proceedings ONLY, there will be NO opportunity to voice objection or support to a planning proposal at the meetings. Any comment regarding a proposal must have been made in writing prior to the meeting, for the content to be considered by the Members.
Comment can be submitted and will be considered at any stage of the consideration PRIOR to a decision being made, whether that decision is by the Committee or the Director.
The main points as to how the meeting is conducted are as follows;
- The agenda will be circulated to the Members in accordance with the Standing Orders (a minimum of three working days prior to the meeting). In addition the agenda will be available via the website as a downloadable document in the table at the bottom of this page.
- As each agenda item arises, the case Officer will be asked to present their report to the Committee, concluding with a recommendation.
- The Members will be invited to present concerns and queries not covered by the report given.
- Any further input from Government staff/Officers will be invited by the Members.
- Members of the public will not be invited to speak as it has been assumed that any concerns regarding the proposal have been submitted, in writing, prior to the meeting.
- Should any persons create disruption during the course of the meeting, the Chairman may seek to defer consideration, if necessary suspend the meeting and continue proceedings in private.
- The Planning Officer will be asked to close the detail by responding to any outstanding issues raised.
- The Chairman will ask members to vote, either approving or refusing the recommendations.
- The vote and agreement will be minuted, plus any additional conditions/reasons suggested.
- Chairman to explain the decision - if necessary, to the public.
Please also note that the minutes for each meeting, when available, will also be available to download below.
