Consumer Product Testing

Consumer Products are tested at the request of Trading Standards Officers, part of the Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading.
Toy safety testing includes determining the choke hazard of small parts, presence or absence of toxic metals in paints and flammability testing. Typical consumer products examined include household and garden chemicals, ceramics, cosmetics and paints.
The mains gas supplies are also tested around the Island at the gasworks to ensure their energy value. This is a statutory duty as the Government Analyst also acts as the Gas Examiner.
