DEMENTIA CARE

All of the Social Services homes care for people with some degree of dementia in an effort to keep people in familiar surroundings. However it is realised that some clients need special care in a protected unit of their own. Glenside has such a unit of 16 beds incorporated into the home.

There are several homes in the private sector which also care for people with dementia:-

These homes are registered and inspected by D.H.S.S. but not managed by them.

There are a few day centres on the Island:-

• Mount View House in Ramsey managed by Health Services Division.
• Gansey Day Centre in Port Erin, managed by Social Services Division
• Ny Kaire Thieyn in Peel
