NEWS ITEMS

Planning Day

A very successful planning day was held in March with well over 60 family carers, people with learning disabilities and service staff attending. The event received a good write up in the local press.

Andrew Swithinbank, Assistant Director of Social Services, gave a slide presentation showing recent service developments together with a set of statements setting out our vision for the future and what needs to happen for this to be achieved. This presentation had also recently been given to members of Tynwald.

People attending the Planning Day were given an opportunity of looking at the ‘Big Picture’ and were asked to consider what services we ought to provide in the future. All the ideas that come out of the group work will help shape the Learning Disabilities Strategy currently being developed.

Please see the Downloadable Documents at the bottom of this page for the write up from all the workshop groups

Stop Press: a second successful session has now been held. More information to follow soon.

Supported Living

The Supported living service is a great success and the Supported Living team are now supporting five people in their own homes. The amount of support varies and is worked out by undertaking an ‘assessment’ of what the person needs. The service provides a mix of practical and social support.

'My Plan'

We have been trying to make the way that we approach planning for people much simpler to understand and more focussed on individual person centred planning.

You can download some useful notes about this – (‘PCP – What’s it about?’ - open the file below)

Also more about person centred planning coming soon to these pages.
