What is it?
Non-contributory Retirement Pension (Category D Pension) is paid to you if you are aged 80 or over and have not paid enough National Insurance contributions to receive a pension or receive a pension at a lower rate than the non-contributory Retirement Pension.
Basic qualifying conditions
To qualify you must -
- be aged 80 or over
- normally be resident in the IOM at the time of claim
- have lived in the IOM or the UK for at least 10 years in any 20 year period after your 60th birthday
- not receive any other NI pension or benefit except Graduated Retirement Benefit, Additional Pension or Guaranteed Minimum Pension; or
- receive a Category A, B or C pension at less than Category D (over 80) rate
How much could I get and how am I paid?
Click here for Rates. You can be paid weekly by orders which you cash at Post Offices or you can have it paid direct into your bank/building society every 4 weeks.
How and when should I apply?
A claim form should be completed and returned with your birth certificate (marriage certificate in the case of a woman) to the Pensions Group, 1st Floor, Markwell House, Market Street, Douglas.
Claims can be made up to four months before the 80th birthday or immediately if aged 80 or over.
