National Health Service prescriptions are free for
- children under 16
- full-time students under 19
- persons who have been in receipt of Incapacity Benefit for 6 months or longer
- persons who are chronically sick and have been in constant need of medical attention for 6 months or longer and do not work
- persons in receipt of Family Income Supplement, Income Support, Disability Working Allowance or Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and their dependants
- war pensioners
- registered blind persons
- persons suffering from specific conditions
- persons aged 60 years or over
- expectant mothers
- women who have had a baby within the previous 12 months
If you are not entitled to free prescriptions you could save money by buying a "Prepayment Certificate"
(also known as a "season ticket"
or PPC). Contact us for more details about this.
You will not have to pay anything for any NHS prescriptions for the period of the certificate.
