A disabled person receiving the higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance or a mobility premium as part of their Income Support and who is the registered keeper of a motor vehicle may be able to obtain exemption from paying vehicle licence duty.
In order to apply for vehicle licence duty exemption it is necessary to obtain a certificate MY812 from the Disability Benefits Unit, General Benefits Section, Ground Floor, Markwell House, Market Street, Douglas - Telephone 685104.
For War Pensioners who are not in receipt of Disability Living Allowance but who are the registered keeper of a motor vehicle exemption may still be granted so long as they satisfy certain medical criteria. Further information can be obtained from the Veterans Welfare Service, Markwell House, Market Street, Douglas - Telephone 687047.
