"Bereavement Benefits" is the generic term for the Bereavement Allowance, Widowed Parent's Allowance and the Bereavement Payment. Please click on the links below to find out more about these benefits.

Basic qualifying conditions

To qualify for bereavement benefits your late spouse or civil partner must have paid National Insurance (NI) contributions. Your own contributions do not count. You can claim bereavement benefits if you were legally married to your late spouse or in a civil partnership.
