PRESCRIPTIONS
National Health Service prescriptions are free for -
- children under 16
- full-time students under 19
- persons who have been in receipt of Incapacity Benefit for 6 months or longer
- person's who are in need of constant medical attention (for 6 months or longer) and are not in substantial employment, nor are self employed, and have been resident in the Isle of Man for at least 6 months (will need to complete an Application for Exemption form, telephone 642612 for further information)
- persons in receipt of Family Income Supplement, Income Support, Disability Working Allowance or Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance and their dependants
- war pensioners
- registered blind persons
- persons suffering from specific conditions (will need to complete an Application for Exemption form, telephone 642694 for further information)
- persons aged 60 years or over
- expectant mothers
- women who have had a baby within the previous 12 months
If you are not entitled to free prescriptions you could save money by buying a "Prepayment Certificate"
(also known as a "season ticket"
or PPC). You will not have to pay anything for any NHS prescriptions for the period of the certificate.
