HEALTH SERVICES - WHAT DO WE DO?
The DHSS Business Plan states that:
The purpose of Health Services is –
To enable the people, individually and collectively, to live healthily and fulfill their potential within a secure environment.
The specific Health Services policy objectives are –
- To maintain and, where necessary, improve the physical and mental health of the people of the Island through prevention and treatment of illness, disease and disability;
- To provide for a comprehensive and readily available range of acute Health Services;
- To provide for a comprehensive and readily available range of Primary Health Care Services;
- To ensure the co-ordinated provision of Health and Social Services;
- To achieve greater awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.
In order to provide direction to all parties concerned, directly or otherwise, in delivering services which influence the health of the Isle of Man population, the Department has published a Strategy for Health document.
In order to provide services the Division is split into a number of operating units –

- Noble's Hospital
- Public Health Directorate
- Personnel/Vacancies
- Education & Training
- Strategy & Policy
