POISONS ACT
The provision of the National Health Service on the Island is set out in the NHS Act 2001. A copy of which is available from the Government Information Centre
The Poisons Act 1979 regulates the sale or supply of non-medicinal poisons, a list of these substances is contained within the Act.
The Poisons List is divided into two parts, Part 1 contains substances which in general can only be sold for retail pharmacy premises by a pharmacist e.g. arsenic, cyanide.
Part 2 of the List contains substances, which can be sold by persons who are registered under the Act e.g. Sodium Hydroxide, Paraquat.
