HISTORY OF THE ISLE OF MAN DONOR SERVICE
The Isle of Man donor service sessions started in 1944 and that year 52 glass bottles had been made for patient transfusions.
The first location was Old Nobles Hosptial which then expanded to out of town sessions as demand increased.
Today we have extended the donor sessions to Douglas, Peel, Ramsey, Castletown and Port Erin. On average we collect 60 units of blood a week from your donations and we order more units from Liverpool if required.
We need your blood donations more than ever today. We also have donor sessions organised with private companies to ensure we maintain our stock levels.
Please help us to save lives.
