STRATEGIC INFORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORATE

Working within the Isle of Man Government Information and Communication Technology (ICT) framework, the Strategic Information and Development Directorate (SIDD) is responsible for developing, in conjunction with users, effective information strategies and ICT business case proposals for the DHSS, from concept to system handover. This includes the development of existing and future business processes arising from the Department’s business strategy, Treasury Information Systems Division (ISD) initiatives and wider health and social care developments in respect of service modernisation.

The Directorate also leads on the application of telemedicine and e-health in service modernisation, gives central advice on Data Protection and, working with Treasury, information security issues.

Between 2002 and September 2008, SIDD Director, on behalf of the Chief Minister, chaired the British-Irish Council Ehealth Working Group . This Group was constituted under Strand 3 of the “Good Friday Agreement” and brought together representatives from all the co-signatories to the Agreement, to discuss and share information about Ehealth. Currently, the Director is the DHSS principal representative on several UK health and social care ICT fora, including working with the English NHS Connecting for Health.
