BENEFITS OF THE ISLE OF MAN

The Island is a very safe place to live, with very low crime rate, possible due to a mixture of low unemployment and high community spirit.

It offers excellent tax benefits, with income tax at 10%, maximum 18%, and a personal allowance of £9,200. There is no community tax and domestic rates are much lower than in the United Kingdom. There is also no capital gains nor inheritance tax in the Island.

The Department of Education ensures high standards throughout the educational system. Qualifications are nationally recognised because the Island follows the same methods as England and Wales. Exam results often exceed those in the UK partly due to small class sizes.

DHSS staff may be granted financial assistance towards further education if they wish to take distance leaning courses or other courses to obtain a qualification, a University Degree or qualifying for promotion.

The Government has a removal and relocation scheme which allows for expenses to be paid to assist successful candidates in relocating to the Island from the UK. The scheme is made up of three parts: a relocation grant, an interest free advance of salary and housing assistance.

Manx National Heritage (http://www.gov.im/mnh/) protects over 130 monuments and operates 13 National Heritage Museum sites, which include historic buildings and Castles. It also acquires and preserves areas of outstanding natural beauty and ecological significance for wildlife conservation and public enjoyment, amounting to over 3,000 acres of land.
