Who we are

The Isle of Man Probation Service is a Division of the Department of Home Affairs and works alongside both the Police Service and the Prison Service as the Department's three Criminal Justice Divisions. The Probation Service assists in realising the Departmental goal of providing Community Safety and in addition works in the Family Courts of the Island where its Family Court Welfare Service operates independently, but under the umbrella of the wider Probation Service.David Sellick - Chief Probation Officer

Chief Probation Officer David Sellick has 35 years experience in probation ranging through various areas of work including prison secondment, community service, family court welfare and community based supervision in both rural and urban probation services.

He was raised in Rutland and trained at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, from 1975-1977. Prior to that he worked as an ancillary (unqualified) probation officer in Grantham, Lincolnshire. While training he was seconded to Inner London Probation Service, and on qualifying was appointed to Shropshire Probation Service based at Telford.

He also worked as a probation officer in Skegness and Jersey prior to taking up a post with the Isle of Man Probation Service in 1986. He was promoted in 1987 to manage the IoM Probation Service, the position being re-named Chief Probation Officer in 1991.

Pat Ingram, Director of Operations

Patricia IngramPatricia Ingram has worked for the Probation Service as firstly a Family Court Welfare Officer and then as Practice Manager before taking on the role of Director of Operations in 2007.

She was born in South Wales and moved to England in 1973 to study at Cheltenham College of Art where she gained an honours degree. This was followed by a Post Graduate Teaching Certificate at Bristol University.

In 1994 she embarked on a change of career and gained a Diploma in Social Work at the University of Gloucestershire. The majority of her social work career was spent in a fieldwork team specialising in child protection. A Diploma in Mental Health was achieved post qualification. Prior to her career in social work she worked for voluntary agencies including the Rape Crisis Centre and the Alcohol Council and Information Service.

Pat moved to the Island in 2003 and initially worked for an adoption agency before moving to the Probation Service in 2004 as a Family Court Welfare Officer and subsequently being promoted to the post of Practice Manager and more recently to Director of Operations responsible for the day to day running of the Service.
