Prison Service
Visits
Social visits to prisoners should be arranged by either:
- Un-convicted, (remanded), prisoners: Ringing the visits direct line 01624 891009, (9.00am to 5.00pm daily), saying who you want to visit and giving details about yourself and anyone else who will be visiting, OR
- Convicted prisoners: You must be in receipt of a visiting order (VO) which will be sent to you by the prisoner who wants you to visit him or her. The red VO form will contain the prisoner’s name and number and will also contain a visit number which must be quoted when making a booking. The procedure once you have this information is the same as for un-convicted prisoners.
Visits for un-convicted and convicted prisoners are held on alternate days and cannot be swapped.
Visitors under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Visitors aged between 16 and 18 years old must supply written confirmation from a parent/guardian giving permission for them to visit.
