Preparation for release

The Isle of Man Prison Service works closely with the Isle of Man Probation service and other agencies to help prepare prisoners for their release back into society following their period of imprisonment.

Sentence Plans will form the mainstay of this process and will plan for a prisoner’s release by ensuring that help is given in finding employment and attempts are made at securing accommodation for those that need it.

The prison and probation services are currently examining ways of working more closely together in order to manage offenders right through the process of going to court, prison custody, release and, where necessary, supervision in the community.
