Isle of Man Constabulary

What we do

The Isle of Man Constabulary provides a policing service to the people of the Isle of Man 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The Constabulary are responsible for the whole Island covering the major town of Douglas and the more rural areas of Ramsey, Peel, Laxey, Castletown and Port Erin. The population of the Island is currently around 80,000 and the policing on the Island is provided at the heart of the community. Each of the five neighbourhoods is headed by an Inspector who has responsibility for providing a 24 hour policing service in that area.

The Department of Home Affairs has statutory responsibility for producing an Annual Policing Plan. This sets out the goals and strategic objectives for the Constabulary for the coming year. Copies of recent Annual Plans and strategic reports can be found at the bottom of this page.

The performance of the IOM Constabulary is measured accordingly and the Chief Constable annually submits his report to the DHA covering all aspects of force performance against the Policing Plan.

The Isle of Man Constabulary aims to improve the quality of life for the Island’s community by providing a police service suited to the Isle of Man, with community safety as its primary goal, by undertaking the following functions:

“The Isle of Man Constabulary sets the highest standards in service delivery and we have set these out in two documents which are available at the bottom of this page. Most importantly we aim to give victims our highest priority.”

The Police Roll of Honour Trust has a website which records the details of officers from the British Isles who have died in service. To visit the page dedicated to the Isle of Man Constabulary click here
