Isle of Man Constabulary
Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team-snpt@gov.im
The Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team is responsible for the delivery of Policing services to the Southern communities of Castletown, Port Erin, Port St Mary, Malew, Rushen, Santon and Arbory.
The Team consists of one Inspector, Michael Musson, one Sergeant and 15 Constables and two support staff based at both Port Erin and Castletown Police Stations.
The local policing plans objective is to provide highly visible policing, reduce incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour and to provide community reassurance.
The concept of Neighbourhood Policing is at the very heart of everything we do and regular consultation takes place with many community representatives giving them the opportunity to directly influence how the Constabulary police the South of the Island. Of the main issues affecting our local communities, both anti-social behaviour and minor criminal damage are of the most concern. Through the recent development of a partnership and information sharing approach we are now working together to pro-actively deal with these issues and target known offenders and police trouble ‘hot spots’ at key times.
The Inspector comments:
'We believe the best way to achieve these aims is to listen to people's worries and needs and to respond to them at a local level. By working with all Southern Local Authorities and other partners we will concentrate on addressing those issues which matter most to all residents both young and old.'
