Isle of Man Constabulary
Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team
The Northern Neighbourhood Policing team is responsible as its name suggests for policing the North of the Island. In geographic terms this equates to the area north of The Dhoon in the east and Ballaugh in the west.
The Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team area encompasses the town of Ramsey and the village districts of Maughold, Bride, Andreas, Jurby, Sulby and Ballaugh.
The area has two police stations, namely the main Police office in Ramsey and a sub station at Andreas.
The focus is very much towards community policing and community involvement is essential in dealing with local issues at a local level. To this end the Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team works in partnership with all the local authorities and various other agencies in a determined effort to deliver the best possible service to the community it serves.
Every month a meeting takes place at Ramsey Town Hall where local issues are raised and discussed and workable solutions decided upon. The following agencies and organisations are involved: Ramsey Police, Ramsey Town Commissioners, Maughold Parish Commissioners, Bride Parish Commissioners, Andreas Parish Commissioners, Jurby Parish Commissioners, Lezayre Commissioners, Ballaugh Commissioners, Northern Neighbourhood Watch, Department of Infrastructure (Harbours), Department of Education Youth Service, Ramsey Grammar School and Northern Neighbours.
The Team consists of one Inspector, two Sergeants, 14 Constables and member of support staff.
The Inspector comments:
"I am keen for my officers to build upon the close relationships that have already been forged within the local community and to continue to develop strong links with partner agencies and other voluntary organisations in order to improve the policing service that is delivered to the area. Local residents play such an important role in neighbourhood policing by providing officers with valuable information and by helping to set local policing priorities. I would encourage residents to talk to their local neighbourhood officers and to tell them about any issues that are affecting their quality of life."
Neighbourhood Commander: Inspector Juan Kinley.
