Introduction![]() Welcome to the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service webpages. We are a division of the Department of Home Affairs and a modern day Fire and Rescue Service. We are very proud to serve the residents of the Isle of Man and the visitors to the shores of this Island. The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is committed to making the communities within our Island a safe place to live, work, and visit. Our service is working hard to drive down emergency incidents and promote a safer environment. Her Majesty's Inspectorate undertook an inspection of the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service in 2007. The report can be found at the bottom of this page, along with useful safety advice. Chief Fire Officer Brian Draper heads a team of 167 firefighters, 56 fulltime based at Douglas Fire Station and Fire Headquarters in Onchan, and 111 retained firefighters based at Douglas, Laxey, Ramsey, Kirk Michael, Peel, Port Erin and Castletown fire stations. There are also four civilian staff who are based at Fire Service Headquarters in Onchan. The Island’s Fire and Rescue Service is responsible for a budget of £4.4million.
