Victim Support Isle of Man - telephone 679950

Victim Support Isle of Man is an independent local charity supporting victims of crime, domestic abuse and those affected by fatal road traffic collisions.

The office is staffed full-time by manager, Paula Gelling (left); administrator, Jan Farrell (centre); and assistant co-ordinator Julie Routledge (right), along with invaluable assistance from volunteers.

Victim Support Isle of Man currently receives an annual £77,750 contribution from the Isle of Man Department of Home Affairs for its main work. No funding is received from Victim Support UK. In addition, fundraising takes place locally and all monies raised goes to continue to provide the much valued service for victims. However, the charity are in need of more funds to cope with increasing demands on their service..

It is independent of both the Department and the Isle of Man Constabulary although many of its clients are referred by the Police.

The work of Victim Support Isle of Man includes assisting with criminal injury claims plus providing emotional support for victims of various offences including physical or sexual assaults, thefts, burglaries and criminal damage. They also support the families of people involved in fatal road collisions. Some people receive emotional support for traumatic experiences many years after the event.

Their Witness Support volunteers provide moral support to people who are required to give evidence in court hearings. Many people who seek assistance from Victim Support Isle of Man are referred by the Police but people can also approach them directly.

Anyone interested in volunteering can find out more in the documents below.

The Victim Support office is normally staffed from 8.30am until 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (answering machine 24 hours), but please arrange an appointment to avoid disappointment.
