What we do

The work of the Civil Defence Emergency Planning Division involves:

• Promoting, developing and reviewing emergency plans which enable co-ordinated support by all Government bodies for the emergency servicesHelicopter at Tynwald

• Providing a corps of volunteers, trained in a range of skills, which can be called upon to assist the emergency services when required and to provide a link with other voluntary agencies

• Promoting and assisting Government Departments in the development of business continuity plans aimed at preserving their functions in a crisis

• Providing financial support, vehicles and accommodation to the Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps, Sea Cadets and the Combined Cadet Force units on the Isle of Man. (NB the Department of Home Affairs is not responsible for the activities and management of the cadet forces).
