How do I make an application?
An application should be made in accordance with the details on our Media Development Fund page. Packages (which should contain all the criteria listed here) should be sent to:

All submittors will receive a response but due to the number of submissions we receive, we must ask that you allow us approximately four working weeks to review.

Do you have application forms for film finance?
We understand that each package is unique so we do not use standard application forms. Proposals are considered on their individual merits, however we do ask that you submit based on the criteria here.

How do I find out more about the Island?

Please look at our links page for links to further information about the Island. Alternatively, most production companies take a recce to the Island to check Island life out for themselves. Travel details are listed on our links page.Also see our Filming on the Isle of Man page.

Do I need a work permit to work on a film on the Island?

Please note that work permit exemption is granted only to persons providing specialist services to any specific production. Anyone working on a production who is not a British citizen or a national of the European Economic Union needs a specialist work permit to work in the Isle of Man. Please see Work Permits website for further information.

Crew and Location Queries
I'd like to register my services with you and for you to include these in the Crew & Facilities Directory. How do I do this?
The Crew and Facilities Directory includes details of services available on the Island to production companies. The Directory is accessible online at our Crew and Facilities search page. If you already have experience on film sets and would like to be included in the Directory as freelance crew, please complete and return the Crew Registration Form by email to or by post to "Isle of Man Film, Department of Economic Development, St Georges Court, Douglas Isle of Man IM1 1EX". If you are a service or facilities provider please complete and return the Facilities Registration Form, attaching any leaflets or promotional material you may have. Please note that we only include Isle of Man registered Companies and residents in our Directory. Any negotiations regarding fees and contractual arrangements are between the service provider and the Production Company and Isle of Man Film accepts no liability for such arrangements.
I would like to gain experience on a film set. What should I do?
Isle of Man film ensure there are at least four individuals employed per production as a trainee in a valuable role. Trainees can work in the Camera Dept, Sound, Locations, Production, Assistant Directors... interested parties need to be at least 18 years of age and a clean driving licence is an advantage. I'd like to register my property/land for production companies to use for filming. How do I do this?
We have a database of location photos at our office for Producers to use when looking for a location. If you would like to be added to this database, please download and print the Locations Database entry form for completion before sending it back to us at the above address. Please ensure that you include at least 2 photos (preferably digital, but prints are fine) which can be returned to you if a SAE is enclosed. It is also advisable to read our guidance notes to renting your property out as a location.
I'd like to register my property as accommodation for film crew and cast to use when on the Island. How can I do this?
Please send us photos of your property plus any additional information such as brochures and website addresses. For any queries about this, please contact us. We will keep your details on record and pass them onto Productions who are looking for accommodation.
I'd like to be more involved in the film industry on the Island. How can I do this?
One way to become more involved is to register with an extras agency on the Island. This will give you an idea of what is involved on a Film/TV shoot and will give you more of an idea of what particular part of filming you enjoy/don't enjoy. Ex-Isle are an extras agency based on the Island. If you have already worked in film and know which direction you would like to take, it would be a good idea to contact us to ask for the Production Company phone numbers so that you can liaise directly with them regarding possible employment.
I am considering a career in the film industry. Do you have any advice you can give me?
A good place to start is the Skillset Careers website. This offers specialist media careers advice. We encourage the use of trainees on our films and keep a list of people interested in trainee positions at our office. There is a production being filmed nearby, how can I find out what exactly is being filmed?
The best way to find out what is happening is to look at our news and recent events page. Announcements are also made in local newspapers The Manx Independent and the Isle of Man Examiner.
I work in the film industry. How can I find out when the next production is going to be on the Island?
We welcome local freelancers to contact us on a regular basis to get updates on visiting productions. We are happy to provide Production Company contact details as soon as they have set up a Production office. Please note that some films may yet be subject to Isle of Man Treasury approval. It is always worth checking with our office to confirm whether a production is genuinely associated with Isle of Man Film.
