Employment Services

Welcome to Employment Services. We deal with the following areas, and look forward to assisting you, or your company: Job Centre Map

The JobCentre

The JobCentre, based on Prospect Hill, is the ideal way to either find jobs, or advertise vacancies at no charge. The JobCentre also retains application forms for most of the Island’s major employers. The job list created by the JobCentre is updated daily, and can be viewed at any Post Office, library, or regional Department of Social Care office Island-wide, and on-line. The JobCentre can provide interview facilities for those wishing to employ, and can provide information and advice for those wishing to undertake further training. The JobCentre also offers a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae word processing service. For further information click here.

The Disability Employment Service

The Service helps to enable disabled people claiming benefits to find or retain sustained work. We work closely with employers in supporting and encouraging good employment practices and attitudes in the recruitment and the retention of disabled people. We also work closely with external organisations to improve mutual referral arrangements and employment related provision. For further information click here.

Employment Agencies and Businesses

There is a requirement for employment agencies and employment businesses operating from premises within or from the Isle of Man should be licensed for the protection of all concerned. In this way we ensure that high standards are maintained in this sector of employment. For further information click here.

Work Permits

The Department of Economic Development operates and enforces the work permit system under the Control of Employment Act 1975. Employers may employ individuals from within the European Economic Area (EEA) who are not Isle of Man workers, provided that there are no suitable Isle of Man workers available to fill those specific roles.

There is a separate system of work controls for persons who are not EEA nationals. Persons seeking to work in the Isle of Man from outside the EEA are subject to control under the Immigration Acts (of Parliament) and in most cases will require permission to work under the system of controls known as the Points Based System.
