Plant Analysis
The agricultural advisory staff can arrange for plants such as cereals, grass and potatoes to be analysed for diseases (if unsure of type of disease from field visit).
Nutrient deficiencies can be a serious problem for some crops in certain parts of the Island. Analysis of these plants can also be arranged to see if there is a shortage (or excess) of major plant nutrients or trace elements.

Fresh grass can be analysed for feed value which can indicate correct cutting time for silage making and the analysis of silage and hay can be used to prepare ruminant rations.
As most of the samples have to be sent to the UK for analysis a charge has to be made. If you would like any samples analysed please contact 695725.
