Cross Compliance Penalties
Applicants in receipt of a payment from the Countryside Care Scheme must comply with Statutory Management Requirements and Standards of Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition. Failure to do so will result in a penalty or deduction from the payment.
All farms on the island will be inspected over the next five years. Penalties will be phased in over the next 2 years with 100% being imposed in year 3 of the Scheme.
Penalties will be assessed in terms of their intent, extent, severity, permanence and repetition. Details of the meaning of these terms and the matrices used to calculate penalties can be downloaded here.
Farmers who feel that penalties have been incorrectly applied can appeal against the decision.
