Sulby Claddagh

Map Link

Sulby The Claddagh, meaning "river meadow land", lies at the mouth of Sulby Glen near to the T.T. course in the parish of Lezayre. In former times the Sulby River would have swept serpentine over much of the Claddagh. Today however, its grassy paddocks follow the bank of the river and provide a popular and picturesque location for recreation with locals and visitors alike.

To the north of the site and in the shadow of Cronk Sumark, or 'Primrose Hill', there is a developing small woodland which was initially planted as part of a personal tree planting scheme.

The Claddagh is maintained by the Forestry, Amenity and Lands Division and certain restrictions apply. These are detailed within the Sulby Claddaghs Byelaws 2003 which in summary state that:-

Penalty - a Fine not exceeding £2,500.
