Sea Fishing
Sea Fishing round the Isle of Man
If you wish to fish from a registered fishing vessel (unless by hook and line) in Manx waters you will need to hold licences to do so.
There are different rules depending on whether you wish to fish within 3 miles off the Isle of Man, or between 3 and 12 miles off the Isle of Man.
There are particular rules concerning fishing for crabs, lobsters and whelks within 3 miles of the Isle of Man, and also special rules for fishing for scallops.
If you are fishing commercially round the Isle of Man then you will need to complete logsheets. The Government of the Isle of Man provides some subsidies and grants.
Whether you are fishing commercially or for sport you will need to know the minimum sizes for the different types of fish.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has a fisheries protection vessel, fpv Barrule.
