Work progressing on library issues - Chief Secretary's Office Press Release

CHIEF Minister Allan Bell MHK has announced the formation of a Council of Ministers working party to support the Department of Education and Children in progressing alternative options for the delivery of Family and Mobile Library Services.

The group is led by Education Minister Peter Karran MHK joined by Community, Culture and Leisure Minister Tim Crookall MHK (whose department is responsible for transport) and Infrastructure Minister David Cretney MHK (whose department is responsible for local authorities).

The Chief Minister said:

‘There is a great deal of interest and some offers of support for both libraries and the Department of Education and Children is in discussions with interested parties. A range of options are being actively pursued so that services can continue to be provided.
‘I hope the creation of a Council of Ministers working party will assist the Department by ensuring support for its work from other relevant areas of Government.’
