Introduction

Jury in courtroomJury service is regarded as one of the most important civic duties that anyone can be asked to perform.

Your duty as a juror is vitally important as it fulfils the right of a citizen, charged with a criminal offence, to be tried by a jury of his or her fellow citizens. By serving on a jury you are playing a vital role in the Island’s legal system.

You do not need any special knowledge or ability to fulfil your role as a juror.

The following information will help you understand what is expected of you. You can pick up a copy of our leaflet JUR01 - Called For Jury Service from the Court Office/public counter.
