| 15 February 2013 - 2 April 2013 | | Proposals for amendments to the Sea Fisheries (Queen Scallop Fishing) Bye Laws 2010 | D.E.F.A | Proposals for amendments to the Sea Fisheries (Queen Scallop Fishing) Bye Laws 2010
Landings of Irish Sea Queen scallop in 2011 and 2012 have been more than double the long term average, and are not sustainable. In addition to this, it is clear that current harvest strategies are failing to maximise the value of Queen scallop to the fishing industry. The 2010 Queen Scallop Bye-Law did a great deal to address certain issues within the fishery, which have clearly been of long term benefit to the stock. However, it has become apparent that further regulation is necessary to achieve the objective of maximising economic returns from the fishery and reduce the risk of the fishery being closed early each year. | 27 February 2013 - 1 April 2013 |
