Meteorological Information
The Met. Office at Isle of Man Airport provides a full forecasting service for aviation and the public as well as 24 hour synoptic observations and climatic information.
The Island's weather is generally temperate and lacking in extremes. In winter frost is infrequent and significant snowfall rare. In summer it's often pleasantly warm and very hot days are unusual. Thunderstorms are also rare.
However, the Island is rather windy and the prevailing direction is from the Southwest. Sea fog affects the South and East coasts at times, especially in spring, but is less frequent in the West.
February is usually the coldest month with an average daily temperature of 4.8 C but often quite dry. July and August are the warmest with an average maximum around 17.5 C. May and June are normally the driest months. Ronaldsway's average annual rainfall is 866 mm (34 inches ) and the central hills receive about double this amount.
