Lead

Approximately 33% of the existing 33,000 service and supply pipes, commonly installed during the mid to late 20th century, are believed to be made of lead.

As a result, some of us may worry that our drinking water might contain lead in undesirable amounts. The Authority is fully aware of consumers’ concerns and constantly monitors the levels of lead in drinking water. The Authority also continues to replace lead communication pipes as part of its mains refurbishment programme.
