Visits by Non-Manx Schools

The natural history and heritage of the Isle of Man have much to offer visiting groups. Manx National Heritage is the island’s national heritage agency, operating from its headquarters in Douglas at the Manx Museum. The Manx Museum and the House of Manannan (Peel) are open year round while other sites are open from the beginning of April to the end of October.

• The Manx Museum displays portray the natural, social and cultural history of the Island from prehistoric times to the present
• Rushen Abbey is a Cistercian abbey site which has been re-used in ways as different as a girls' school and a hotel and entertainment complex.
• Castle Rushen is one of the finest medieval castles in the British Isles.
• The Old House of Keys gives a dramatic presentation of the Island's political life in the past two centuries.
• The Old Grammar School has a furnished Victorian period classroom.
• The Nautical Museum contains an 18th century yacht 'Peggy' in the boathouse built for her by her owner, Captain George Quayle.
• Cregneash is a village community showing upland farming life in the 19th and 20th centuries.
• The House of Manannan has dramatic Celtic, Viking and Maritime displays.
• Peel Castle has a history of occupation and use from prehistoric times to the nineteenth century.
• The Grove is a Victorian country house and grounds.
• The Laxey Wheel and Mines is an industrial complex featuring the huge water wheel which drained the mines and is a famous Island tourist attraction.

If you are arranging group visits for children including schools and nurseries, please ensure that you undertake a risk assessment and pre-site visit prior to your group's visit.

The Manx vintage transport system of steam and electric railways can be used to complement coach travel for groups.

Group rates are offered to pre-booked groups of 10 or more.
